Courage is the Fuel for Positive Change

We all have fears, doubts, and worries. We can become paralyzed by them, or rise above them. It is the courage and confidence to keep moving that matters most.

When I came across this quote by T. Harv Eker, I stopped in my tracks! It took but a moment to understand how profound these words are. They provide a clear path to overcoming personal adversity. Adversity, in the most extreme cases, often causes time and perspective to come to a complete stop. Like a thundering bolt of lighting in a field close by, the jolt freezes us at a moment in time. Moments of adversity are rarely anticipated. Since the pandemic began, adversity has changed countless individuals. Many after long periods of success and happiness. The jolt stops us like a brick wall. Our memories of better times and recognition of personal strengths escape us.

Sudden Change Sets the Trap

We become trapped in a web of doubt and inaction. Doubt grows like wild grass and blocks the path we have always traveled with confidence and hope. Adversity stares us in the face when unplanned and unwanted circumstances appear. The thundering bolts strikes often out of nowhere. When the smoke settles, we face the circumstances and our self. Adversity confronts us at various times in our careers, and in our personal lives. Only the circumstances are different based on the situation. The interpretation of the circumstances and the reaction to them are personal to each of us. As the quote reminds us, we all face adversities in our personal and professional lives. Our only choice is to make the best of the circumstance. This involves rediscovering our self-worth and self-confidence despite our fears, doubts, and worries.

The Need to Step Back and Reflect

We remember that our capabilities and worthiness have, in fact, not changed. Only the circumstances have changed. It’s the circumstances that bring the clouds of adversity and doubt. Our ego defaults to blending circumstance with our self-worth. False perceptions are born.

We all have the ability to reflect. We can find our strength again. We don’t come empty-handed. We have a well to draw from in our past experiences, learning, and successes. We also know we have access to the help and support necessary to keep us focused. We only need our intention and courage. It is then we prepare to keep moving. No matter the storms and jolts we face. We don’t erase our fears, doubts, and worries. We have the belief in ourselves to rise above them. We stand up, brush ourselves off, and keep moving.

Could this be you? Are you able to rise above your fears, doubts, and worries? To put yourself in the best position to establish your true self-worth again?
